Coming of age film about a Taiwanese teenager in the USA.
In the summer of 2008, 13-year-old Chris Wang, known as Dìdi (?? - the word means "little brother" in Mandarin and is also used by Chinese parents as a term of endearment for their younger sons), experiences first-hand how nerve-wracking it can be to no longer be a child. In his home town of Fremont in the Californian Bay Area, the last month before the start of high school has begun. Like so many kids his age, Chris is trying to find his way through the confusion of friendships, crushes, online chats and hormonal storms. However, his family is not much help. His relationship with his mother Chungsing (Joan Chen, The Secret of Twin Peaks) is strained and his father is constantly away on business trips. Vivian (Shirley Chen, Wake Up), Chris' precocious older sister, is fully occupied with preparing for college.
