The self-confident Anora, a young stripper from Brooklyn, gets the chance to get out when she meets Ivan, the son of an oligarch, and marries him spontaneously a short time later in Las Vegas. When the news reaches Russia, however, her dream of a better future is in jeopardy: Ivan's parents travel to New York to annul the marriage.
Director Sean Baker (The Florida Project) tells a moving story full of joie de vivre and pointed humor with ANORA, which won the Palme d'Or for Best Film at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
From the dimly lit sex clubs full of unfulfilled dreams to the luxurious apartments of Russian billionaires: ANORA is a wild odyssey through the contrasts of the present and contrasting genres, between which the outsiders of life discover their personal silver lining on the horizon.
