Poetic fantasy tale about the noble animal's odyssey.

In the enchanted forest, the unicorn learns that King Haggard's flaming beast has driven unicorns to the end of the world. The mythical creature sets off on a search, is not recognized and is locked up. Wizard Schmendrick frees it. At King Haggard's court, Schmendrick transforms the unicorn into a girl who falls in love with Haggard's adopted son and forgets her mission. Schmendrick turns it back. The unicorn drives the bull into the sea, Haggard's castle crumbles and the unicorns return from the sea to land.
The last unicorn searches for his lost companions, rescues them from the captivity of the red bull and thus preserves "the miraculous".
