German version
Silent movie with live soundtrack
Thereminist Trautonia Capra sets the silent film classic Nosferatu from 1922 to music. The main part of the music is precisely pre-produced for the film. Experimental and conventional sequences alternate and are complemented by field recordings and sound samples from the film's original Lübeck locations. Trautonia improvises live on the theremin, with her expressive voice, singing bowls, gongs - and with antique Lübeck carpenter's nails on a rusty forest harp.
The most gruesome and artistically valuable German horror film: Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau's silent movie Hunt for a Vampire.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the estate agent Hutter travels to Transylvania, where he intends to conclude a purchase agreement with Count Orlok for a house in his home town. However, Orlok turns out to be a vampire, forces Hutter under his control and sets off for Wisborg to look for the beautiful woman whose picture he found with Hutter. Hutter, who has managed to free himself, also hurries back to Wisborg, where a decisive confrontation ensues between the plague victims and the rat armies.
