Born in Iran but living in New York City, Nickzad “Nicky” Nodjoumi traveled back to Iran to join the Islamic Revolution, creating paintings and posters that criticized the Shah's regime.
In 1980, the painter fled his home country after his solo exhibition “Report on the Revolution” at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art was destroyed and subsequently closed by radical Islamists.Decades later, as Iran is once again embroiled in protests after Iranian women and activists were repressed and killed by the Iranian “morality police”, the renowned artist and his daughter Sara are trying to track down the missing paintings in the hope of getting them back.
