Poland in the early 1980s. As the country gradually turns its back on communism and transforms itself into a democratic state, Aniela Wesoly seeks her freedom as a woman in a small town. Already during her childhood and youth, she begins to feel different. Those around her reacted with a lack of understanding and repression. But neither the resistance in her family nor state repression can stop her from finally becoming the person she has always been.
