A shy woman lives a secluded life in her apartment. Disturbed by the news reporting on the madness and chaos on Seoul's streets, she doesn't actually want to open the door. But she doesn't stand a chance against the pushy stranger - their encounter ends horribly.
But nothing is as it seems at first glance in NEW NORMAL. Told in six chapters, each with titles like DRESSED TO KILL or PEEPING TOM paying tribute to a classic film, the film soon turns away from the usual anthology structure when characters suddenly return and their stories have a macabre effect on the following ones. Towards the end, it's up to us to puzzle and piece together the smart set pieces.
With a hip cast, cool music, a dash of humor, lots of blood and a zeitgeisty F*** the World attitude, director Jung Bum-shik delivers a modern version of his similarly convolutedly told and highly acclaimed horror debut EPITAPH.
