Five young people treat themselves to a few days away in a cabin in the woods: Ashley (Bruce Campbell), Cheryl (Ellen Sandweiss), Scott (Hal Delrich), Linda (Betsy Baker) and Shelly (Theresa Tilly). But when they find a book and a tape recorder in the cellar of the house, they are drawn into a real nightmare. As they play the tape, the previous occupant of the cottage tells them that the book contains formulas for summoning demons... and even speaks these formulas out loud. The inevitable happens - supernatural forces are unleashed in the forest, leaving the group defenceless. One by one, demons invade the young people, causing them to decimate each other.
