The year is 1996, and Mike Lazaridis (Jay Baruchel) and his best friend and business partner Douglas Fregin (Matt Johnson) are developing the world's first smartphone. The two are technically brilliant, and business inexperienced. They struggle to keep their company, Research in Motion, afloat. Everything changes when they meet the smart entrepreneur Jim Balsillie (Glen Howerton), who brings the necessary small change and the competence for the launch of such a world-changing invention. Seemingly overnight, the three men revolutionize the way people work, communicate and network. Whether in politics, in companies or even among celebrities, there is no getting around the Blackberry and its value is catapulted to new heights. But soon the success should be threatened by another invention...
