Deported from the city to the country and under the thumb of her sadistic grandmother, teenager Nala finds herself trapped in a nightmare. Atmospheric grotesque witch horror by Isaac Ezban (THE SIMILARS).
Nala's sister is ill and does not respond to any healing method. While the parents continue to search for help, they place their daughters in the care of their estranged grandmother Josefa. The dour woman is eerie to Nala from the moment she arrives at the remote mansion, and quickly the girl's worst suspicions seem to come true: Shadows lurk in every corner, the night brings nightmares, and green brew bubbles on the stove. Then, when a corpse floats in the foul pool, it's already too late to escape.
Folk horror par excellence: In Isaac Ezban's gothic horror tale, even the décor anticipates the morbid atmosphere of approaching disaster. Despite the young actresses, his film is by no means a children's program, but thrives on threatening gloom and practical disgusting effects, which hit the target all the harder in this age of soulless CGI blood. Grim goosebumps cinema from Mexico, as Hollywood has not managed for a long time.
