London, September 3, 1939: The Second World War has just broken out. Sigmund Freud (ANTHONY HOPKINS) has fled Vienna with his daughter Anna Freud (LIV LISA FRIES) to escape the Nazi regime. Anna, a psychoanalyst herself, supports her father unconditionally, but also fights for her own needs to be recognized. A few days before his death, a scholar from the College of the University of Oxford pays Freud a visit: C.S. Lewis (MATTHEW GOODE), who will later achieve world fame with “The Chronicles of Narnia”. On this day, two great thinkers of the twentieth century engage in a controversial debate about love, faith, the future of humanity and the all-important question for them: Is there a God?
