In Verdi's monumental tale of superstition and rivalry, a devastating curse rises from the ashes.
When Manrico and Count Luna vie for Leonora's favor, tempers flare. The two have no idea that Manrico's mother Azucena has been guarding a terrible secret for decades. Soon a curse from the past is to rise from the ashes with devastating consequences for them all. In Adele Thomas' energetic production starring Ludovic Tézier and Jamie Barton, Verdi's plot takes place in a world of medieval superstition inspired by Hieronymus Bosch. Antonio Pappano conducts Verdi's dramatic score, which includes the famous 'Anvil Chorus'.
