Former homicide detective Roy Freeman (Russell Crowe), who suffers from amnesia, is forced to reopen a previous case (which he cannot remember) in order to solve a brutal murder. With the life of a man on death row hanging in the balance, Freeman begins to investigate with determination, trying to piece together the evidence from the murder investigation ten years in the past. What he uncovers is a dark web of closely guarded secrets and betrayals, which is also linked to his own past and demons. Fragments of memories and clues flash up, which slowly fit together like small pieces of a jigsaw puzzle and take ever new turns ... Caught in a web of mystery and deception, Freeman can only rely on his instincts and must recognize the terrifying truth: Sometimes it's better not to wake sleeping dogs.
