The story of Christopher Reeve is that of an unknown actor who made an incredible rise to legendary movie stardom. Reeve's unique portrayal of the character Clark Kent/Superman set the standard for all the superhero film universes that dominate the cinematic landscape today. He portrayed the Man of Steel in four "Superman" films and demonstrated his talent and acting versatility in dozens of other roles before he was seriously injured in a life-threatening riding accident in 1995. He was left paralyzed from the neck down.
As a result of his paraplegia, Reeve became a charismatic leader and activist in the effort to find a cure for spinal cord injury. At the same time, he became a passionate advocate for the rights and care of people with disabilities - all while continuing his film career in front of and behind the camera and devoting himself to his beloved family.
