Our program for the cinema week starting on Thursday will be published each Monday afternoon
For many years, the Bayreuth Festival has also been offering performances from the Festspielhaus to audiences who have not received one of the coveted Festival tickets. To this end, once a year a performance is broadcast live in the cinema and on television with a time delay and released on DVD. In 2012, the Bayreuth Festival was shown live in cinemas for the first time.
In 2024, the opera "Tristan und Isolde" in the new production by Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson and under the musical direction of Semyon Bychkov will now be broadcast live in the cinema on July 25, 2024 from 16:00. As the 2024 cinema broadcast will take place live during the performance in the Festspielhaus, the two one-hour breaks typical of Bayreuth will also be observed during the cinema broadcast.
The Bayreuth Festival is one of the best-known and most renowned festivals in the world. Every year, around 60,000 visitors from all over the world come to Bayreuth to experience the performances. The demand for tickets has exceeded the available supply for decades, resulting in waiting times of several years in some cases. Thanks to the cinema broadcast, it is now possible for all Wagner enthusiasts to enjoy a live performance in outstanding technical quality.
