The Fantasy Filmfest 2023 is simply a lot of fun:
With DOGMAN - the new film by master director Luc Besson, in which an award-worthy Caleb Landry Jones takes on the leading role with around 30 four-legged heroes at his side - we start the program with a real bang and close with the not only for phobics: inside uncomfortable spider horror VERMIN. The centerpiece THE ANIMAL KINGDOM delivers a whole zoo of fantastic creatures, we also have crazy cats - MAD CATS - and with SLOTHERHOUSE the first sloth slasher in our luggage. The Fantasy Filmfest 2023 clearly has a heart for animals!
But this year's program is also visually very strong, for example thanks to Bertrand Mandico's new artistic vision CONANN, the glossy Eastern European sci-fi RESTORE POINT, or the amazing animations: Pablo Berger's poignant adventure ROBOT DREAMS and the sci-fi dystopia MARS EXPRESS. Asian cinema also shows itself from its most captivating side: from the Korean space blockbuster THE MOON to the big Chinese hit and mystery thriller LOST IN THE STARS or Soi Cheang's new serial killer horror MAD FATE. The audience's favorite THE ROUNDUP: NO WAY OUT and Xavier Gens' hard-hitting FARANG deliver breathless action, while THE SEEDING offers ice-cold horror. And if there is also a zombie comedy from the makers of TURBO KID - WE ARE ZOMBIES - and Nicolas Cage is allowed to let off steam on the screen for ninety minutes in SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL, we can confidently say: The 37th fantasy Filmfest leaves nothing to be desired and once again has a great selection to offer!
